Who it is for

For those who already have the course and doubt they have retained it

beltup does not teach Lean Six Sigma from scratch: it tests what you think you already know. People use it before a course to arrive with the basics in place, during it to consolidate each module, and afterwards to maintain a level that fades fast without practice.

You are preparing for a certification

A Yellow, Green or Black Belt session is in your diary, with course material and a date. Practice spots the chapters where you still answer on intuition, while there is still time to go back over them.

You practise without being certified

Engineer, technician, project manager: you already use 5S, VSM, FMEA or control charts without having sat an exam. The quizzes straighten out a vocabulary learned on the job — often right, sometimes approximate.

You are a quality student

Lean Six Sigma is on the syllabus, the exam is written, and the course does not say which questions will come up. Practising between two sessions teaches more than reading the same handout three times.

You were certified long ago

Years in the field, and tools not opened since the course: MSA, designs of experiments, hypothesis tests rust quickly when daily work does not call for them. A short session now and then is enough to keep the whole set available, without going back through a course.

You train or supervise teams

Trainer, quality manager, shop-floor supervisor, teacher: your learners need to practise between two classroom sessions, and you do not have time to write three hundred questions. beltup rolls out across multiple accounts, with company invoicing and tracks composed by you.

Progression

Yellow, Green, Black: three levels, not three volumes of the same course

The three belts differ less in the amount of content than in what is expected of you in the field. beltup follows that gradation: from one level to the next, the questions change in nature before they change in difficulty.

Yellow Belt

Recognise and name

The fundamentals: waste, 5S, Kaizen, Gemba Walk, visual management, flow logic. The questions check that you can identify a tool and know what it is for. It is the level of the Lean Discovery track — free, complete, no time limit.

The Yellow Belt syllabus in detail
Green Belt

Apply and calculate

DMAIC end to end, VSM, SMED, Kanban, takt time and TPM on the Lean side; capability (Cp, Cpk), MSA, hypothesis tests, SPC and designs of experiments on the Six Sigma side. The only level where beltup asks calculation questions: DPMO, RTY, FMEA risk priority number. Two tracks are devoted to it.

Black Belt

Arbitrate and steer

Hoshin Kanri, advanced statistics, steering a project portfolio. The LSS Expert track covers these topics, with a question bank currently shallower than the Yellow and Green levels — better to read it here than to find out after subscribing.

The Black Belt syllabus in detail

Nothing forces you to follow this order. Free mode, included in the subscription, draws twenty random questions at the level of your choice, with no set topic: it is the fastest way to know whether a level is already within your reach.

Method

Practising and re-reading do not produce the same result

Re-reading a chapter gives the feeling of knowing it. Being asked about it, book closed, gives the opposite information — and that is the one that helps. The gap between the two is what surprises people on exam day: the chapter seemed mastered because it had been read three times, and never recalled once.

A quiz forces recall. It produces a wrong answer where reading only produced an impression of familiarity — and a wrong answer is a starting point: it names the chapter to go back over, where re-reading flags nothing.

01

Randomly drawn questions

Every session draws from the track’s question bank, with no predictable repetition. You memorise the concepts, not the position of a right answer in a list seen ten times.

02

Four question formats

Single-answer multiple choice, multiple-answer multiple choice, putting a sequence in order, numerical calculation. Ordering and calculation are the two formats re-reading does not prepare you for.

03

An explanation for every answer

Right or wrong, every answer is commented on: why that one, and why not the others. A distractor dismissed without knowing why will come back for you in the exam.

04

Sourced questions

Every question carries the reference it rests on, shown at marking. 2,255 of the 2,480 questions have been reviewed and validated, and the list of sources is public — including the share of the bank that has none.

05

Revision grouped by topic

At the end of a session, mistakes are grouped by topic. Three SMED mistakes and two VSM mistakes are not five mistakes: they are two topics to work on.

06

An interrupted session resumes

An abandoned quiz restarts where it stopped. And if a question looks wrong or ambiguous to you, report it: it is reviewed, and you get a reasoned reply.

The publisher

Who publishes beltup

beltup is published by Kernel Ops (Kernel Ops SASU), an operational performance consultancy registered in France under SIREN 102 009 131, headquartered in Paris. The platform is designed and maintained by Clément Rat, the company’s president and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt: the questions are written by a practitioner who has sat these certifications and led these projects. There is no outsourced customer service behind beltup — a question sent to contact@beltup.fr gets a reply from a person within 48 working hours.

beltup is not a certification body. The platform trains for exams it does not award, and is not affiliated with any certification body. No pass rate is displayed here: none is measured today, and the day one is, the method will be published with the figure.

The exam does not forgive improvisation.
