What this quiz covers
It covers steering — project selection, strategy deployment, change management, team leadership — and advanced statistics.
The Black Belt stands out less through additional tools than through scope: projects that cross several departments, where the problem belongs to no one and the difficulty is as much human as technical.
That is what the topics specific to this level reflect, and they surprise those who only revise statistics: project selection, Hoshin Kanri, change management, team leadership. They look like common sense until you face the questions — they set situations where two answers are defensible and only one matches the expected approach.
The fifteen questions below draw from all three levels, with a majority of Black Belt: an exam at this level assumes everything else is mastered.
Revise this level without wasting time
Revise steering as much as statistics
That is what many candidates discover too late. The non-technical topics weigh heavily at this level, and they can be revised — on cases, because no definition settles between two plausible options.
Expect project requirements
Most bodies require real documented projects at this level, sometimes a defence, sometimes validation by a Master Black Belt. Revising the knowledge is only part of the way.
The notions to go back over after the quiz
Placement test or mock exam?
This quiz is a placement test: 15 questions, marked and explained as you go. It is there to spot in ten minutes what you have mastered and what is left to review — not to reproduce the conditions of the day.
A mock exam is something else: the real length of the exam, a timer, and no marking before the end. beltup offers that mode — number of questions of your choice, timer, marking withheld until the result — to subscribed accounts, across the whole bank of the level. That second use prepares you for the pace of an exam; this one prepares you for the content.
Both are useful, and not at the same time. You start by finding out where you stand.
Frequently asked questions
What sets the Black Belt level apart from the Green Belt?
The gap lies less in the tools than in what is expected of their use: leading a cross-functional project, arbitrating between several options, bringing along departments that do not report to you. Statistics go deeper — designs of experiments, multiple regression, analysis of variance — but they stay in service of the rest.
Do I need to be a Green Belt to try this quiz?
Nothing requires it here: the quiz is open to everyone and is precisely there to measure the gap with the expected level. Certification bodies, for their part, set their own prerequisites — some require an intermediate level, others a completed, documented project — and that is checked with the body you aim for.
Do these fifteen questions cover the whole Black Belt syllabus?
No, no selection of fifteen questions could: the level covers project leadership, strategic steering, change management and an extended statistical foundation. These sample those areas to position a level, not to cover it all.
Is the timed exam mode available here?
No, these fifteen questions are played with no time constraint and immediate marking. Exam mode — limited time, marking deferred to the end, like on the day — is part of the subscription, because putting yourself under real conditions requires a renewed draw you do not know in advance.
