The Yellow Belt level is fully open: these 15 questions are drawn at random from the 997 in the bank, and are renewed every session. No account and no card.

What this quiz covers

It covers the fundamentals of Lean: waste, 5S, kaizen, visual management, going to the gemba and flow logic.

The Yellow Belt checks that you share the language of an improvement initiative: recognising waste, telling a pull flow from a push flow, understanding what a team board is for. It requires no statistics.

The questions below are asked as in the exam — a situation, four possible readings, only one that holds. That is where the difference with revising from flashcards lies: learning “overproduction: producing more than needed” is not enough to decide between overproduction and inventory in a concrete case.

Every answer is marked immediately, with the explanation and the book it comes from.

Revise this level without wasting time

Do not revise this quiz like a glossary

Definitions can be memorised in an evening; what is missing on exam day is having applied them to a situation. A failed quiz tells you exactly which chapter to go back over — re-reading tells you nothing.

Aim for the explanations, not the score

A right answer found by chance is worth less than a wrong answer understood. Read the correction even when you were right: that is where the nuance that will come back in the exam lives.

The notions to go back over after the quiz

Placement test or mock exam?

This quiz is a placement test: 15 questions, marked and explained as you go. It is there to spot in ten minutes what you have mastered and what is left to review — not to reproduce the conditions of the day.

A mock exam is something else: the real length of the exam, a timer, and no marking before the end. beltup offers that mode — number of questions of your choice, timer, marking withheld until the result — to subscribed accounts, across the whole bank of the level. That second use prepares you for the pace of an exam; this one prepares you for the content.

Both are useful, and not at the same time. You start by finding out where you stand.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Yellow Belt quiz really free?

Yes, entirely, and with no sign-up: the fifteen questions are played and marked with no account and no bank card. The Yellow Belt level actually goes further — it is fully open, with a renewed draw, for anyone who creates a free account.

Do I need an account to see the corrections?

No. Every answer is marked immediately, with its explanation and the book it comes from, without anything being asked of you. The account only serves to keep the history of your attempts and to unlock the renewed draw of the Yellow level.

Are the questions the same on every attempt?

These fifteen questions are fixed, so that the result is comparable from one session to the next. The full Yellow Belt track, on the other hand, draws new questions at every launch from a bank of several hundred — which is what lets you revise without learning the same wording by heart.

How many right answers should I aim for?

No official pass mark applies to this quiz: it is there to position you, not to certify. In practice, a score that leaves more than three mistakes out of fifteen signals notions to review before approaching an exam, and the cards linked to each topic say which ones.
